Objectives
Many polychromed wooden artefacts and paintings are housed in churches and small museums with sub-optimal, unmonitored conditions:
- Co-design with conservator-scientists a multimodal data pipeline (3D geometry, spectral/colour appearance, DIC, and microclimate) and acquire datasets on mock-ups, using accelerated ageing and induced defects, with validation on real cases.
- Develop, implement, and validate predictive models as building blocks for “heritage digital twins” that fuse measurements with optimisation/AI methods to monitor, forecast and explain predicted change.
- Deliver expert and public-facing visual analytics to explain predicted risks, support preventive conservation, and guide decision-making.
Goals
- Curated protocols and multimodal datasets (mock-ups and selected real objects).
- Software (open source) for HDT creation, monitoring and prediction of change in CH objects.
- Validated on mock-ups and case studies (CS2), the results will feed into a visualisation toolkit accessible to both experts and non-specialists.
